Question About Your Art, ArtPrize 2024 Accepting Artists

Published about 1 month ago • 1 min read

Hello Reader,

Commissioned Art

Commissions are a totally different way to sell artwork. The traditional way to market and sell artwork is to find the buyers after the artwork is created. Most working artists have lots of inventory waiting to be sold but with commissions the artwork is sold before it's created. Whether you are interested in finding out more about art commissions or not, I would like to get your feedback for future projects on teaching the business side of art. Please take a moment and fill out this short survey.

ArtPrize News

Early Bird registration for artists is on now with the official start of entries on April 11. Be sure and check out the website for all the updates on what's happening this year at ArtPrize. There's a long list of awards and grants for artists and remember that there's somewhere around $500,000 (!) in total cash awards for participating artists.

Art in the Park Saugatuck 2024

Many of you have already signed up for Art in the Park Saugatuck. Thank you! There's still room for more artists and artisans but we are filling up fast this year and the registrations will close on July 1. Please share the info with your artist friends. We look for local and regional Michigan artists so we don't advertise in the national artist registries like Zapplication.org. This event is juried so you will get top billing and a great reference for your resumes and portfolios.

See you soon with more info on art commissions and results from the survey.

Hello Reader, I found this article about a successful portrait artist with an extreme work ethic. His artwork is impressive and it's interesting that many of his portraits are done in egg tempera on panels. Here's John Darley's Website. Recently, my brother Paul said, "People think I'm lucky but I always say the harder I work, the luckier I get." This quote has been attributed to several different historical figures but none that say it exactly like my brother. Hard work definitely does...
