Color Trends

Published 3 months ago • 1 min read

Hello Reader,

COLOR

You have probably heard about the "color of the year" and wonder if it really matters that much. As artists we use lots of color and don't always think in terms of popularity or style when choosing colors for our work. However, we do want to use color to convey feelings and mood.

But I found this article about Pantone's psychology behind choosing the color of the year and it's an important resource for artists or anyone deciding on decorating trends .You will learn the influence that color can have and how to choose the right colors for your projects.

As a commissioned artist I need to know my customer's preferences. If they are asking for a painting of a particular scene for their living room, I will scope out their interior design to determine the best outcome. Or maybe my customer is a business and has a specific branding design to follow.

The artwork itself may dictate the colors to use but your buyers are going to have their own preferences. It's important to consider what people are looking for today as they choose their purchases.

Read the Pantone article to find out how you can get the advantage to promote your artwork or learn how to use color in your interior design.

Update on My Schedule

I changed my schedule due to healing from a minor surgery on my ankle which turned out to be a bit more serious. It's still healing and now I have work that is behind so hopefully things will be back on track soon.

You can expect to see these newsletters coming each week but maybe not always on Mondays.

Right now I am working on setting up a retreat along the Michigan lakeshore and I'll let you know what can be arranged. This retreat will be for artists and art lovers who want a chance to meet and learn together as we create new artwork.

The podcast that I mentioned a little while ago is delayed a bit and will start soon. I'll keep you posted on that as well as my in-the-works biography of growing up as an artist.

Keep Creating!

Hello Reader, Commissioned Art Commissions are a totally different way to sell artwork. The traditional way to market and sell artwork is to find the buyers after the artwork is created. Most working artists have lots of inventory waiting to be sold but with commissions the artwork is sold before it's created. Whether you are interested in finding out more about art commissions or not, I would like to get your feedback for future projects on teaching the business side of art. Please take a...
